1978年 伊奈製陶株式会社（現 株式会社INAX）入社。1992年 同社空間技術研究所基礎研究所（新設）所長。1998年 同社技術統括部空間デザイン研究所（新設）所長。2002年 同社取締役。技術統括部部長、同社取締役 研究開発センター（新設）センター長。2004年 同社取締役、研究開発センター長、環境戦略部（新設）部長兼務。6月、同社技術顧問。9月、東北大学大学院環境科学研究科教授。
研究歴：専門は地質･鉱物学をベースとした材料科学、1992年より「クローズド生産システム」を、1997年から「人と地球を考えた新しいものつくり」を提唱、多くの実践経験をもとに「自然のすごさを賢く活かす」ものつくりのパラダイムシフト実現に国内外で積極的に活動している。
賞：日本鉱物学会より鉱物工学奨励賞、米国セラミックス学会よりブルナウエル賞(学術論文賞)、セメント協会論文賞、簡明技術推進機構よりPort賞(機構賞)、日本ファインセラミックス協会より技術振興賞、日本鉱物学会より応用鉱物学賞、日本セラミックス協会より学術論文賞・学術賞、中部科学技術センターより振興賞、アメリカセラミックス学会からフェローの称号を授与など多数。

1978 Joined Ina Seito Company (now INAX Corporation).
1992 Named Director of the newly established basic Research Laboratory at INAX's Spatial Technology Institute.
1998 Named Director of the newly established Spatial Design Institute at INAX's Technology Oversight Division.
2002 Named Managing Director of INAX's Technology Oversight Division and Director of the newly established Research and Development Center.
2004 In addition to his other duties, named Director of the newly established Environmental Strategy Department. Named INAX Technology Advisor in June and became a teacher at the Tohoku Graduate School of Environmental Studies in September.

Research: Specializes in materials science based on geology and mineralogy. He began advancing closed production systems in 1992 and new ways of making things that take people and the Earth into account beginning in 1997. He works actively both domestically and abroad to apply his wealth of practical experience to realizing a paradigm shift toward "channeling the forces of nature."

Awards include: the Mineral Engineering Award from the Mineralogical Society of Japan, the Brunauer Award from the American Ceramics Society, the Award for Best Paper from the Japan Cement Association, the PORT Award from Promotion of Rational Technology, the Award for Technical Advancement from the Japan Fine Ceramics Association, the Award for Applied Mineralogy from the Mineralogical Society of Japan, the Award for Best Paper and Research from the Ceramic Society of Japan, the Promotion Award from the Chubu Science and Technology Center and a fellowship from the American Ceramic Society.
