[プロフィール]
1942年ドイツベルリン生まれ 。Fresco(フレスコ)・家具職人の 父の影響を受け日本文化に関心を持つ、ベルリン・パリで 建築デザインオフィスに勤務しながら建造物・家具の復元修復 を学ぶ。
1964年空手修行の為来日、以降建築デザイナーとして ヨーロッパをはじめ日本で活動。
1993年新潟県十日町市竹所(旧松代町室野)で現在の 自宅(双鶴庵)となる古民家を購入再生着手。
2001年「新潟木の住まいコンクール入賞」

[Profile]
Born in Berlin, Germany in 1942. Due to the influence of Fresco and his father, a furniture craftsman, he held an interest in Japanese culture and while working in design offices in Berlin and Paris, he studied the restoration of buildings and furniture.
Came to Japan in 1964 to study karate, and afterwards did work in Europe and Japan as an architectural designer.
In 1993 he purchased an old house (Sokakuan) in Tokamachi, Taketokoro (formerly Matsushiro-cho, Murono) in Niigata prefecture, made it his home and began restoring it.
In 2001 was awarded a prize in the “Niigata Wood Home Competition.”
Author of “Karl Bengs, Reviving Old Houses.”
