神戸市生まれ。桑沢デザイン研究所を経て早稲田大学第一文学部美術専修卒業。
1968年 株式会社PAOS設立。経営者に理解されるデザイン理論の確立とデザイン手法の開発をテーマに研究と実践を重ね、これまでにマツダ、ブリヂストン、INAX、NTT、NTT DoCoMo、東レ、キリンビール、毎日新聞、伊藤忠、日産自動車ほか約100社のCI・ブランド＆事業戦略デザインなどを手掛ける。
1998-2000年 Gマーク民営化時の総合審査委員長として改革にあたる。2000年 株式会社ワールド・グッドデザイン(WGD)を設立し、世界のグッドデザイン賞情報のデータバンク化・アーカイブス化を軸としたデザイン運動&ビジネス戦略を推進中。
毎日デザイン賞、第一回勝美勝賞など受賞多数。

Born in Kobe. Graduated from the Kuwasawa Design Laboratory and the Waseda University First Culture Department with a specialization in art.
Founded the PAOS company in 1968. He conducted research and gathered practical experience on the theme of establishing design theories understood by administrators and developing design techniques, and has worked with CI-brands and business design for Mazda, Bridgestone, INAX, NTT, NTT DoCoMo, Toray, Kirin Beer, Mainichi Shimbun, Itochu, Nissan, and around 100 other companies.
He faced changes as the General Investigation Chairman when G-Mark changed to citizen administration from 1998-2000. In 2000 he founded the World Good Design (WGD) company, which promotes design movements and business strategies centered around archiving good design prize information from around the world. Has received many awards such as the Mainichi Design Award and the 1st Katsumi Masaru Prize.
