1966年生まれ。 中学より同志社香里スキー部としてクロスカントリースキーを練習し、大阪府クロスカントリースキー選手権大会で毎年優勝。 高校になってからは、クロスカントリースキー、コンバインドスキー競技の大阪大会および近畿大会で幾度となく優勝。 この戦歴が認められた中央大学商学部へスポーツ特別推薦入学。 トライアスロンには1987年2月15日の「第2回全日本雪上トライアスロン大会」に出場し優勝したのが初トライ。

1989年中央大学を卒業し、日本体育大学に編入学。 1991年よりプロフェッショナル・トライアスリートとして活動を展開で、1992年4月日本体育大学大学院に入学し、運動処方学を学びつつ、競技では6年連続して世界選手権の日本代表として選考されるなど実績を積む。 1992年から日本人としては初めてワールドカップシリーズで世界を転戦。 その後1996年からはアイアンマン・シリーズを中心に活動を展開する。 1999年より国内随一のアドベンチャーレーシングチーム「サロモン・イーストウインド」のメンバーとして世界各地のアドベンチャーレースに参加。 トライアスロンとアドベンチャーレースの双方で数々の戦績を残す。

1990年代後半以降、選手活動だけではなく、これまでの実績を活かしテレビスポーツ番組のキャスターをはじめ、スポーツナビゲーターとしての活動を本格的に展開。 CS放送「Jスポーツ」で放映されるスポーツニュース「スポーツ・マグナム」のキャスターとしてレギュラー出演、現在ではサイクルスポーツ中継やNHK-BS「ITUワールドカップトライアスロン」のメインナビゲーターとして出演している。

各地のトライアスロン大会、アドベンチャーレース大会のプランニングを手がけるほか、レースディレクター、コースディレクターとして、選手活動で培った知識、ノウハウを実際の形にすべく活動している。 公演、セミナーなど多数実施。 スポーツを軸にマルチにプロフェッショナル活動を展開している。

Born in 1966. Has training in cross-country skiing with the Doshisha Kori Ski Team since junior high, has won each year at the Osaka Cross-Country Skiing championship tournament. In high school, he won many championships at Osaka and Kinki in cross-country and combined skiing. Recognized for his achievements, he entered the Chuo University School of Commerce with a special sports recommendation. Won the championship at his first triathalon, the “2nd All-Japan Snow Triathalon” on February 15, 1987.

Graduated from Chuo University in 1989 and transferred into the Nippon Sport Science University. Starting in 1991 he expanded his activities as a professional triathlete, entered the Nippon Sport Science University Graduate School in April 1992, and while studying exercise prescription was selected as the Japanese representative in the world championship tournament 6 years straight. From 1992 onwards he has fought numerous battles as the first Japanese in the World Cup Series. From 1996 onwards, he has centered his activities on the Ironman Series. From 1999 he has participated in Adventure Races around the world as a member of Japan's greatest Adventure Racing team, "Salomon Eastwind." He has left many records in both the triathalon and the Adventure Race.

In the last half of the 1990s, he began to act not only as an athlete, but used his experience and worked as a caster for sports programs on TV and a sports navigator. He has regularly appeared as a caster on the sports news program "Sports Magnum" televised on CS Broadcasting's "J-Sports" and currently appears as a main navigator on Cycle Sports Relay and NHK-BS's "ITU World Cup Triathalon."

He helps plan triathalons and Adventure Races around the world and makes use of the knowledge and know-how he cultivated as an athlete to work as a race director and course director. He also gives various public lectures and seminars. He performs multi-professional activities around the axis of sports.
